HANSA HEAVY LIFT sets up a record at the port of Mumbai

22.10.2012 + + + HHL Richards Bay has set up a new record at the port of Mumbai. The HANSA HEAVY LIFT-engineering team safely loaded five reactors (2 x 930 tons in Mumbai and 3 x 360 tons in Dahej) on board the HHL Richards Bay. This was the heaviest cargo from the quay side, which has ever been loaded in Mumbai so far.

“It makes me proud especially what our engineering team has done for our customer. We could load the reactors only during the spring tide due to the heavy weight”, explains Tomas Dyrbye CEO of HANSA HEAVY LIFT. The new developed concept was put into practice within a short time. The weight of the reactors would have been too high for loading on board the HHL Richards Bay during low tide. An additional challenge was the load spreading on deck. The two 930 tons reactors were secured on deck whereby the three 360 tons reactors were loaded and secured under deck.

Despite the monsoon season the HHL Richards Bay’s cargo was discharged safely in Paradip after one week.

Tomas Dyrbye: "We have handled safely a highly complex project for our customer within a short time. It’s again a proof that HANSA HEAVY LIFT has an experienced and highly qualified team as well as a modern fleet of P-class ships vessels can do extra ordinary lifts."
