Panalpina receives top honors
for air freight and heavylift
forwarding
Nov. 21, 2014 + + + Global freight forwarding and logistics provider Panalpina was
honored with two prestigious awards recognizing its expertise in
air freight solutions and heavylift forwarding.
Panalpina was
acknowledged this week in London as Air Freight Solutions Provider of the
Year, as well as Project/Heavylift Forwarder of the Year, by one of the
freight forwarding industry’s most prestigious awarding bodies. The
recognition by Lloyd’s Global Freight Awards indicates Panalpina’s
proficiency and know-how in freight and logistics.
“We’re proud to
win these prestigious awards in two categories where we undoubtedly have a
proven and long-standing track record,” says Chris Cooper, Panalpina’s
managing director for the United Kingdom and Ireland. “Air freight and
projects – particularly in the oil and gas industry – are deeply ingrained
in our company DNA.”
 The award for Project/Heavylift Forwarder of the Year went to
Panalpina Energy Solutions for demonstrating logistics excellence on some
of the world’s most challenging projects. One such project for Panalpina
was the company’s work on BP’s Clair Ridge project. Since 2012 Panalpina
has transported more than 100,000 m3 of out-of-gauge oil and gas goods
from around the world to Korea. The job involved the transportation of a
500 t drilling derrick measuring 60 m tall and 11 m wide with the use of a
1,200 t capacity floating crane – in the midst of snow showers and strong
winds. BP also called in Panalpina to offload the structure, with just two
days to prepare. Energy Solutions is one of Panalpina’s fastest growing
business areas thanks to success stories like this. More than 2,200
dedicated staff create tailor-made, end-to-end transport solutions for
each individual requirement across the entire lifecycle – from exploration
to decommissioning.
The Lloyd’s Global Freight Awards ceremony was
held November 19 at Planit Supernova in London. The ceremony is sponsored
by Lloyd’s Loading List, a source of daily news with more than 150 years
of experience.
