Bilfinger: Order from Statoil in industrial service
Maintenance work on Sleipner offshore platform in the North Sea

2014-02-05 + + +  Supply security is a top priority for clients in the power-generating sector. It begins with the repair and maintenance of production facilities. In this regard, the engineering and services group Bilfinger has won a new order with a volume of about €40 million from its major client Statoil. Services include scaffolding, insulation and corrosion protection work and will be provided on an offshore platform located in the Sleipner gas field in the Norwegian North Sea. The new contract runs from mid 2014 until mid 2017 and includes two additional extension options of two years each.

Bilfinger and Statoil have been cooperating for many years. In industrial service, the Group reliably conducts demanding maintenance and repair services on many production platforms for Norway's largest oil and gas company.

Norway is Germany’s second largest source of natural gas after Russia. More than 360,000 gigawatt hours of consumed gas is imported from the Scandinavian country, equaling a good third of total German consumption. Domestic sources of natural gas can only cover about ten percent of demand. Industrial consumption in Germany accounts for about 40 percent of the total while private households account for 30 percent.
