Timely leak detection is
required to minimize contamination of the environment whenever
substances that are potential environmental hazards are stored or
transported. Problem areas include piping systems, product piping,
pipelines, chemical storage facilities, tank farms, filling stations,
industrial parks and landfill sites. |

The system functions regardless of the
operating conditions of the piping to be monitored. Whereas sudden large
leaks are usually relatively easy to detect, LEOS can also easily locate
small leaks, which can be equally hazardous in the long term.
The sniffing tube is the key element of LEOS. Leak detection is by means of a detection tube made of a special plastic which is highly permeable to the substances to be detected in the particular application. A prerequisite for detection is that the substances to be detected come into contact with the tube in the form of vapor, gas or dissolved in water. |
