TÜV SÜD takes over PetroChem Inspection Services Inc.

Technology service provider TÜV SÜD is advancing the internationalization of its TÜV SÜD Chemical Services business unit. The acquisition of Houston, Texas-based US company PetroChem Inspection Services Inc. has tripled the global pool of experts available to TÜV SÜD's newest business unit for specialist chemical industry services. PetroChem's service portfolio comprises material and safety-based inspection of plants and systems and environmental inspections. The company employs around 400 staff and achieves annual sales of USD 35 million.

"The acquisition of PetroChem has opened the door to global markets for TÜV SÜD Chemical Services", states Dr.-Ing. Hans-Nicolaus Rindfleisch, head of the TÜV SÜD Chemical Services business unit. This Leverkusen-based company bundles TÜV SÜD's expertise in the fields of plant availability, safety and reliability for the chemical and process industries. Dr.-Ing. Rindfleisch explains: "We supply our qualified and industry-specific services as expert partners to our customers throughout the world's major chemical markets."

PetroChem also benefits from integration into the TÜV SÜD Group. "In addition to our existing portfolio, we can now offer the full range of services from TÜV SÜD's INDUSTRY business segment", stresses Robert Burns, President of PetroChem Inspection Services Inc. "We will also utilize TÜV SÜD's international network to tap further customer potential for our materials testing and plant inspection services."

The range of services offered by TÜV SÜD Chemical Services covers the entire lifecycle of chemical and process industry systems. "As a one-stop service provider, we support our customers from the planning, construction and operation stages through to plant dismantling", explains Dr.-Ing. Rindfleisch.
