Siemens Energy partners with OpenSpirit to support the Microsoft® Oil & Gas Reference Architecture

26.08.2010 + + + Siemens Energy and OpenSpirit announced their intention to partner on an architecture enabling XHQ operations Intelligence users to access data from all geoscience applications and data stores compatible with OpenSpirit. This cooperation supports the Microsoft Upstream Oil & Gas Reference Architecture project and enables the user to integrate the entire intelligent oil field in one presentation layer.

XHQ Operations Intelligence solutions provide valuable information and analysis of the entire upstream operation and improve
all upstream operations.

Operations personnel often struggle to pull together a complete, timely picture of a situation. Critical information is scattered throughout a variety of databases, applications and systems in a wide range of formats. By aggregating and presenting data in real time, the XHQ Operations Intelligence product line provides end users with a single coherent view of information, enabling a variety of solutions in real-time performance management and decision support. This cooperation between the U.S. service software company OpenSpirit and Siemens Energy is able to highlight the possibilities of the Microsoft Upstream Oil & Gas Reference Architecture project. Combining all of the supported systems across these frameworks gives the end user the flexibility and capability to bring together the full intelligent oil field in one presentation layer.

“By using the OpenSpirit interoperability layer to bring in the complex view of the subsurface from multiple applications, customers will see a more robust picture than ever before,” said Jesse DeMesa, Director of XHQ Operations Intelligence at Siemens. “Like OpenSpirit, Siemens believes that the best decisions require the latest data from all angles,”  commented Dan Piette, President & CEO of OpenSpirit. “Its philosophy of providing timely operational data when and where it is needed is a perfect complement to our own goal of providing an integrated solution that delivers right-time data while streamlining exploration and production workflows.”
