Siemens A&D: Transparency from the machine to the corporate management level

With Simatic Plant Intelligence, Siemens Automation and Drives (A&D) connects the Scada level with the MES level and thus creates an integrated and scalable solution from the machine right up to the corporate management level. Simatic Plant Intelligence allows users to call up the most important plant information in real time and control production equipment more quickly. This enables them to reduce costs and increase productivity for the company.

The integrated data management of Simatic Plant Intelligence creates greater transparency in production and offers efficient acquisition, evaluation, distribution and archiving of production data. In the entry-level version, Plant Intelligence is available on the basis of the Simatic WinCC process visualization system, and in the more advanced versions, on the basis of the Simatic IT MES range.

As before, users can first add Plant Intelligence to their existing Scada solutions with Simatic WinCC. The options WinCC offers here include WinCC/DataMonitor for Web-based analysis, as well as the WinCC/DowntimeMonitor and WinCC/ProcessMonitor expansions for process optimization and quality analysis. The monitor options are used for the display and plant-oriented analysis of, for example, plant efficiency or standstill times. Users can extend this plant transparency with additional expansions at the MES or corporate management level. This enables Simatic IT to relate and analyze parameters like key performance indicators across several plants, and thus also to evaluate production data like orders, genealogy and batch data.
