RWE Dea Suez GmbH and EGPC,
the Egyptian Ministry of Petroleum, signed agreements allowing for the
extension of the Gulf of Suez Offshore and the North Belayim Offshore
Concessions by a further ten years. The signature was the final step
of an ongoing negotiation process aiming to create further value for both
RWE Dea and EGPC in these two concessions, which originally were signed 33
years ago. The concession extension is considered an important move
towards the realisation of RWE Dea’s strategic goal to strengthen its
position as an operator in the Egypt/North Africa region. RWE Dea is active in exploration and production as operator and non operating partner in Germany, Egypt, the UK, Norway and Denmark and holds exploration licenses in Algeria, Libya and Poland. In Germany, RWE Dea also operates high-volume underground storage facilities for natural gas. In charge of gas and oil exploration and production RWE Dea is part of the RWE Group, one of Europe's biggest energy corporations. RWE Dea has been active in Egypt for 33 years and has been producing oil in the country for more than twenty years. The German upstream company has interests in fifteen concessions, and is operator of seven of them. The extension of the Gulf of Suez Concessions clearly shows RWE Dea’s commitment to generate further opportunities in Egypt. Posted
