Background Information: NDT Systems & Services

NDT Systems & Services, founded in July 2000, is a dynamically growing and globally operating company with its major focus on developing and providing advanced non-destructive testing systems and services for ferrous and non-ferrous metals.NDT Systems & Services is headquartered in Stutensee, Germany and can draw on the extensive experience, technical know-how and creativity of its workforce to provide automated inspection systems and special inspection services.

The structure of the company is based on our vision to provide high quality products and services for our customers at true value for money. The activities of NDT Systems & Services are structured into three divisions:

The NDT Systems business unit offers a range of products in the field of stationary automated inspection systems, including ultrasonic systems for the online and offline inspection of heavy plate material, incorporating automated assessment according to delivery standards, pipe inspection systems as well as systems for wheel and axle inspection. In addition, NDT Systems provides a comprehensive range of services regarding the products offered, including customized design, engineering, installation, commissioning, training and full after-sales support.

The NDT Services business unit provides global pipeline inspection services. The portfolio currently includes a full range of in-line inspection services utilizing the LineExplorerâ range of tools, defect assessment and integrity services for onshore and offshore pipelines. State-of-the-art in-line inspection tools for oil, product and gas pipelines, with a focus on ultrasound technology, are available for wall thickness measurement and crack detection. Further services include integrity assessment, risk analysis and fitness-for-purpose studies.NDT Engineering bundles the engineering resources of NDT Systems & Services, also available to third parties. This includes all aspects of electronics and mechanical design, the development of all related firmware and software for the range of automated non-destructive testing products offered.

NDT Systems & Services, without the integrated Tuboscope Pipeline Services activities, has a global staff of 180 employees. Major locations are Stutensee and Saarbrücken in Germany, as well as sales offices in Europe and the Middle East.

Background Information: Tuboscope Pipeline Services 

Tuboscope Pipeline Services (TPS), a subsidiary of National Oilwell Varco (NOV), Houston is a pioneer in the field of in-line inspection and integrity services for pipelines with a total staff of about 240 employees worldwide. With a global experience extending well over 40 years and a total number of more than 1,000,000 kilometers of pipelines inspected, TPS is truly one of the leading inspection and integrity service providers in the industry.The first commercial metal loss survey offered by then AMF-Tuboscope, utilizing the first of the respectable range of Linalogâ tools, was run in January of 1965 and is the founding block of a track record in the industry second to none.Over the years, TPS has set standards in the industry and introduced a range of in-line inspection technologies and tools covering geometry, mapping, metal loss, hard spot and crack inspections.

The current headquarters of the TPS group opened in 1972 are located in Houston, Texas with offices and operational bases around the world, covering North and South America, Europe, Middle East and Asia.

In 1992, the company acquired Vetco Inspection & Coating and changed its name to Tuboscope Vetco International.

In 1996, TPS acquired Vetco Pipeline Services. The magnetic flux leakage technologies of Vetco Pipeline Services were integrated into the TPS product range and the company traded under the name Tuboscope Vetco Pipeline Services brand before finally changing to the Tuboscope Pipeline Services name.

In 2002, TPS started its strategic partnership with NDT Systems & Services AG of Germany and successfully introduced the range of LineExplorerâ tools into the North and South American markets.In addition to its pipeline services, TPS offers a completely integrated software tool, LinaView® Professional, which incorporates data analysis and visualization capabilities to give the pipeline operator a comprehensive and highly capable pipeline management resource.

TPS today is a leader in the industry transition to Pipeline Integrity Management (PIM) systems, which provide operators with more powerful tools such as Defect Assessment, SCC Modeling, Fitness for Purpose Studies, Run Comparison, and Risk Assessment to make pipelines safer, increase uptime, and reduce costs.
