and enhanced economic efficiency
• Performance enhanced to approx. 2,200 kW
• Specific fuel consumption improved and maintenance intervals extended
At the world´s largest marine trade exhibition, the SMM in Hamburg, MTU Friedrichshafen
will present its latest Series 4000 workboat engine. The engine from the "Iron Men" series has been specially optimized for commercial marine applications. This includes the improvement of specific fuel consumption, extension of maintenance intervals, power increase to roughly 2,200 kW as well as further enhancement of economic efficiency and service life. The engine fulfills all current emission requirements such as EPA Tier 2, ZKR 2 and EU Level 3a and is technologically well-prepared for future emission specifications.
For more than ten years, MTU has sold Series 4000 engines for exceptionally demanding applications. These include workboats in addition to 400-ton mine hauling trucks, locomotives and power generation plants (e.g. on oil rigs). With more than 16,000 units sold and an availability rate of more than 99% over up to 8,000 operating hours annually, Series 4000 has proved its exceptional reliability. An extremely low downtime rate, long service intervals and exceptionally low fuel consumption are among the outstanding features of these
engines.
