ADBIC and Maersk Logistics conclude joint study on logistic services centre for Abu Dhabi Polymers Park
Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, January 10, 2009: Abu Dhabi Basic Industries Corporation (ADBIC) and Maersk Logistics have successfully concluded a joint study to explore the feasibility of providing end-to-end supply chain services to tenants at Abu Dhabi Polymers Park.
The joint study, initiated through a Memorandum of Understanding signed in July 2008, highlights Abu Dhabi Polymers Park's continued commitment to serve the global polymer conversion industry with the ideal industrial cluster through providing tenants with the essential capabilities to become and remain competitive in a global market. Specifically, the logistics centre will offer tenants the benefit of reduced inventory levels, lead-time, supply variability, total supply chain costs and improved visibility.
The study aims to capitalise on Maersk Logistics' proven global experience in the petrochemical sector and cutting edge infrastructure to maximize the impact of these benefits. The Abu Dhabi Polymers Park logistics centre will serve as a conduit between tenants and the regional petrochemical resin suppliers, allowing for greater integration and benefit to be realized throughout the value chain.
Senior Vice President of Abu Dhabi Polymers Park, Mohammed Hasan Al Qamzi, states, "This study is backed by our vision to offer tenants access to a single dedicated service provider to handle the inbound, onsite and outbound logistics at a competitive cost. The Park reflects the emirate's commitment towards diversification through industrial development and we are convinced that this endeavour will take us a step further towards achieving our goal."
Outlining his company's role in the joint study, Klaus Dahl Tindborg, Regional CEO from Maersk Logistics explained, "Our proven global experience in the petrochemical sector and cutting-edge infrastructure can add tremendous value to Abu Dhabi Polymers Park tenants by providing a full portfolio of unparalleled supply chain services with scalability and flexibility to remain competitive as the park develops."
